PALMERS GO ON PILGRIMAGE
2018 is the Ludlow Palmers' Year of Pilgrimage. Palmers (a mediaeval term for pilgrims) and pilgrimage were an important part of mediaeval life, but they also strike a responsive chord in our modern, ever-changing world. The Year of Pilgrimage starts with a series of lectures focusing on modern pilgrims and pilgrimage as seen through art, music, well-being, and sacred spaces and sacred places. In May 2018, St Laurence hosts an original art exhibition featuring local and regional places of pilgrimage.
All 'Pilgrims' — young and old — will receive a medal to mark their own 'pilgrimage' journey. And, all Pilgrims will be invited to enjoy a cream tea in the cathedral's gardens, and/or attend a special 'Pilgrims' Evensong sung by St Laurence's choir. Click HERE to read more about each of these 'pilgrimage' events.
